Show Title: | "For Your Edification" |
Show Theme: | The present state of The United States of America |
I had something here before but it didn't feel right. I'ma try something new here. Perfect time to try something new is with the first show. It played earlier today and I've learned a lot from this first play. I have to think about how to do things differently on future shows, but for now this one is done.
Every show I do for Radio EdSoft Films has a theme. This block of text, on each show's page, will try to explain how the tracks apply to the theme.
Every song in this show, with or without it's lyrics, can be made to represent the United States of America. Don't believe me?
The Fox Fanfare, to me, feels kind of patriotic. Don't ask me why.
Smash Bros. Brawl Theme. First of all, it's about brawling, and we're a war-liked people.
Cucurrit quaeque tetigit destruens.
地を駆け 触れるもの全てを砕いてまわったとか
He ran across the lands and everything he touched was destroyed.
I think I've made my point there. This leads into Fortunate Son, with Vietnam connotations, and therefore Iraq war connotations.
Stand tall talks about the continued racism in this country, despite electing a black president.
I think Rick Astley is English...ENGLAND WAS ONE OF OUR ALLYS IN THE IRAQ WAR. So there. Made that one fit too. It's also kind of fascinating, the rick-roll fad. It also kind of talks about how the US has replaced England of a hundred years ago or so. This gets continued with Her Majesty and The Good The Bad & The Queen.
Little More Than Before (Slip Out) is kind of about how we all feel now as things continue to get worse in this country. And everywhere, really. What place in the world is saved from this economic crisis and culture of greed?
Livin' In A New World. New world, Americas, USA. It's logical. It also has a strong sense of paranoia about surveillance and profiling.
Dirty Old Man = George Bush.
'nuff said.
